Marry Nasarawa indigene, get automatic employment, Governor Al-Makura tells NYSC members

Nasarawa State Governor, Tanko  Al-Makura, has made a case for inter-cultural marriage, promising automatic jobs in the state’s civil service  to any newly deployed corps member who marries an indigene of the state.

Mr. Al-Makura made the promise on Thursday, while addressing the 2015 NYSC Batch ‘A’ corps members during their swearing-in ceremony at Magaji Dan Yamusa permanent NYSC Orientation camp in Keffi Local Government Area of the state.

In his address, he urged the corps members to use the lessons and experience gained during their three-week orientation course to develop themselves, their host communities, the state and Nigeria at large.

“You should see yourselves as agent of positive change in the society,” Mr. Al-Makura said. “I want to advise you to discharge your duties without fear or favour, and relate freely with your host communities.

“I promise automatic employment to any NYSC Batch ‘A’ corps member who marries an indigene in order to promote peaceful co-existence among the people of the state and others states of the country.”

The Governor noted that inter-marriage by corps members and indigenes of the host communities would not only foster national unity, but also promote peaceful co-existence among the people of the host state and other states of Nigeria.

While congratulating the corps members for the successful completion of their academic programmes at their various institutions of learning, he assured them of adequate security throughout their one-year service in Nasarawa state.

He urged them to be security conscious, and to report any security breach to the appropriate authorities for necessary action.

Mr. Al Makura, who had earlier been commended by the State NYSC Coordinator, Christy Uba, for his support, reiterated his commitment towards supporting NYSC in the areas of welfare and security of corps members.
